My dogventure – scenic drive with ma from Midwest to SoCal through CO-UT
STL, MO-Anaheim, CA

After chillaxed month in our “hometown” the Lou we headed back out west with addition of mom to our next airbnb in Anaheim, CA.

Having two choices to get there we chose the CO-UT scenic route (the other option was SW route, both about the same length 30-32hs). We spread it out over 9 days driving 3-4hs/day on average checking out some our our fav and new spots along the way. I added maps of Arches, Bryce, and Zion NPs & Dead Horse Point SP at the bottom of this blog for any future reference.

The drive thru long Kansas surprised us with beautiful sunrises accompanying our drive for a few days. In Colorado we stopped at the Red Rocks concert venue, CO by Denver, where we enjoyed a short hike. Luckily it snowed the day before and the day after we drove thru CO, so we only hit a few hours of icy road conditions driving through the Rockies. I def got sweaty in a few spots 🥶😅.

In Utah we first we stopped in Moab’s Arches NP, UT, our second time here this year. Doesn’t get old!😍

Then we hiked the Dead Horse Point State Park, UT (also second time this year) that’s next to Canyonsland NP, UT  If you have time for both they are about 30-minute drive from each other – Dead Horse is 🐕🐕 friendly with a small few mile loop vs. Canyonsland being a pretty large park with many hikes and sights – since we visited this park in May and were in a time crunch we skipped it this time around.

In the next few days we did a lil detour to check out the Bryce and Zion NPs. The route took us through UT’s scenic country, besides the stunning nature it was a fun experience sharing roads with random cows/bulls standing in the middle of the road not minding us at all.

Bryce Canyon NP, UT was a lil snowy and cold, some paths were icy – the views were amazing!

In Zion NP, UT we weren’t able to see the main scenic section as you have to hop on shuttle and can’t take ur furry babies with you. So we drove thru it taking some FAB pics and spent a nite in the small town next to the park with the view of the cool rocks.

Our last night we drove thru Las Vegas🎰, where we drove around the main strip in the eve and headed to Anaheim through the congested mountains. We stopped at Sand Hollow SP, UT on way there to stretch our legs.

Def recommend this route or at least the CO-UT portion, this route and also the Denver to Seattle through southern CO, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana are the top two scenic routes in the U.S. I have experienced.

“Czech The Box Summary” – Krátce a Stručně Česky (na anglické klávesnici)
