We planned a few weekend trips to check out Jordanelle, Deer Creek, and Yuba State Parks in Utah that are all close to SLC area, so we don’t have to drive too far and still be close to water in the summer heat.
Jordanelle State Park is about 45minute drive from SLC – we just drove through the well known Park City, so I have no posts from there. Once you get through the entry there is a 5sq.miles/3k acres large reservoir with a campground (separate RV & tent sites and some cabins), picnic tables, and many areas with rocky beaches at the park. We sat around for a few hours just watching others having fun with their water toys. We were gonna camp here this past weekend, but with temps at night being around 8C/46F, so that was a no go. 🥶
Next stop was Deer Creek State Park prolly 25minute drive from Jordanelle. This park doesn’t allow dogos anywhere near the water, so we found a shade & watched zip liners, boaters, and others having fun in the water with mountains in the distance. It was hot, so not being able to cool off in the water we wrapped it up soon.🥵
Lastly, a weekend trip to Yuba State Park was a new kind of adventure. It was a very windy day so going down south 1.5hs from SLC driving by the mountains everything was hidden behind a thick layer of dust, and when we got to the reservoir in the state park the wx was so windy that we had to leave. We barely got to the beach when the wind started blowing us away, and while we rushed to get back to the car I saw these lil thorn weeds (in pic below) getting stuck in Bafi & Laki’s paws 😆😒 We made to the hotel and enjoyed chillax there as there was nothing else to do in Scipio (town of 300 with a hotel and gas station) in that kind of weather. The beautiful drive back to SLC next day made up for all that. ⛰️⛰️⛰️
You can use the UT State Park annual pass at all of these 3 locations.
Map of road trip to Jordanelle & Deer Creek: Map of road trip to Yuba:
Jordanelle allows dogos everywhere; Deer Creek doesn’t allow dogos on the beaches or close to water; Yuba allows dogos altho I wouldn’t recommend taking ur furry kids there due to those prickly weeds that hurt their paws.
“Czech The Box Summary” – Krátce a Stručně Česky (na anglické klávesnici)
Abysme nemuseli ridit moc daleko a travit hodiny v aute kdyz je venku stejne vedro naplanovali sme mensi vyletiky do statnich parku v okoli SLC (do 2H jizdy).
- Deer Creek prehrady, kde byly videt lepe hory, ale pejsci meli zakazano do vody, takze sme to tam obkoukli a rychle to zabalili kvuli vedru.
Fajn vyletiky, vsechny 3.
